🌑 It's been a long journey to the Metaverse. Introduction.

Hi to all 23 subscribers that trusted me to deliver interesting insights to their inboxes! 👋

This is a weekly newsletter brought to you by a former fashion editor, aka me, Lina. I will particularly cover digital wearables and their role in the gaming and fashion industry. So stay with me while I explore and learn about all the good and bad. They do say that 🐻 market is all about learning, right? Today I will make a brief introduction to what is going on here and what the future holds for The Wearables Daily.

Disclaimer: I have to say this - this is not financial advice! 🙈

⁉️ Wearables what?

If you're not familiar with gaming vocabulary and don't occasionally hang out in the Metaverse, I suppose we should start with the explanation here.

Wearables - digital assets that are used to dress your digital avatar. They can come with utility features such as a pass to enter a specific area or event, upgrade your in-game level, etc. Here's the example of how Decentraland wearables look like. 👇

👚 So why do Wearables matter?

Every week I will try to answer the only question that keeps bothering me - why do wearables matter? For a start, I know I will be focusing on Decentraland and its goodies. So let's dive into some Decentraland numbers, shall we?

📈 All-time best sellers

All-time 5 best wearables sellers generated $210,515.55 in total sales volume. It doesn't prove you can make a living because sales depend on MANA, the Decentraland currency. Malloy, the creator who is #5 in all-time best sellers, says it might look better than it actually is, "I sold most of my wearables when MANA was less than 50 cents, and wearables sold for MANA in the 100s. I didn't hodl or buy LAND, I paid my rent. The whole market has been diluted and diminished in terms of what wearables are perceived to be valued now, but I hope my original wearable buyers hold them in high regard. They will all have future utility!" Originally, Malloy did 23,716.88 MANA ($21,455.26) in sales and is #5 top seller on Decentraland. Here is the top #4 👇

Digital assets (wearables) is an easily understandable concept that has been around for a long time. Real gamers are familiar with the dressing-up-your-avatar process. What changed between now and when all my friends (me including) were playing and dressing up their Sims is that digital wearables became assets, as NFTs, which means much broader utility opportunities. Let's leave the question of what kind of utility it can offer to the other lucky Fridays.

✨ Win a wearable!

For most of my time in Decentraland, I didn't have any custom wearables. Embarrassing to say, I was a default player. 💔 During the very first Metaverse Fashion Week I was stunned by how beautifully other people's avatars look. Around that time, I met another web3 mom, fractilians (we bonded and talked about everything from virtual worlds to kids. Moms, right?), and she kindly gifted me her hoodie! I love symbolic gestures, so I wanted to gift 2 of her hoodies to my early subscribers! All you have to do is to share this newsletter on your Twitter feed and tag me. The first two to do this will get the hoodie! 😍

🤖 The future

What will the newsletter look like in the future? I am preparing some exciting things, so you can get to know an amazing community of wearables creators, collectors, and fashionistas. I do interviews daily, organize Twitter spaces, and write articles for other websites about how awesome it is to be part of this digital revolution.

I will do what I do best - listen and report. So The Wearables Daily will feature and acknowledge all industry talents and tell their stories.

If you are wondering who's behind

For our very first blind date, I'd like to introduce myself. I am a person who is constantly doing something new. My background is in fashion styling and publishing. First, I worked as a fashion editor in one of the most known fashion magazines - L'Officiel. Later, I moved on to creating my own digital magazine. I started learning coding and UX design. Then, with a growing interest in all things digital, I joined a cybersecurity publishing company and dived into the world of blockchain, darknet, and Metaverse. This is how I ended up joining a fantastic startup Sqube.io, which truly got me into the Metaverse, specifically Decentraland.
