Exciting Metaverses to Watch

Introduction

I am a full time metaverse citizien. I spend my time, money, and social life around that concept. Metaverse is a digital space that blends such concepts as augmented reality, decentralized organizations, creator economy, and many more. It's part of Web3, a new iteration of the Internet that combines blockchain, cryptocurrency, and all assets that users can control and own. Many metaverses or spaces are mostly known as games. Those games build on a promise of interoperability - a concept that user-owned assets such as avatars and other NFTs once will be shared across all different metaverses.

Let's look at metaverses/games/worlds worth looking into and how they're shaping Web3.

IMVU 3D Metaverse/ Virtual World

A virtual world is focused on creators and the creator economy. IMVU's participatory ecosystem enables anyone to become a creator. The best products on IMVU can sell thousands of times. At the time, there are three types of creators: the stylist, texture artist, and meshers, the creators who design the 3D meshes that others build on. Although to become a creator on the platform, you must subscribe to a paid membership. There are also three options.

IMVU application is a bit complex, offering somewhat of a social media experience in a way. Once logged in user can browse through shop, chats or Instagram-look-like feed.

You can earn your first rewards by following simple steps to help you know the platform. I just followed 8 steps from 10 and got rewarded 4,025 IMVU coins, which I can totally sell for $10. This kind of dynamic, where people feel that they can earn rewards and sell their assets, nourish the creator economy.

Union Avatars

Avatar creation platform Union Avatars presents itself as an identity platform giving control, security, privacy, and portability in the metaverse. Ready to deploy in video games, VR, AR, or the metaverse.

Viverse

Viverse is a platform where users can customize their avatars, create spaces, and even host events. The HTC-owned company released Viverse in June of 2022.

Viverse marketplace is full of digital artifacts and art created by renowned artists, brands, and a wide range of creators where you can buy, sell, or trade. The platform is also available in guardian mode, meaning parents can supervise children's activity in world.

Hiber World Platform

Founded in 2017 and based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Hiber is a universally accessible web-first, no-code platform that removes all the barriers to entry for everyone to create their world, engage their audience, and participate in the metaverse. Built upon the existing infrastructure of the web, the Hiber platform already supports millions of interconnected virtual worlds, features a proprietary next-generation 3D engine, and is incorporating Web3 technology to support digital ownership and interoperability. Hiber holds over 4 million virtual worlds on its platform.

Avaturn

Avaturn provides realistic and customizable 3D avatars for your metaverse, game, or app. Avatars can be customized with different clothes, accessories, and hairstyles. Users can also create groups with other users and chat with each other. And what really caught my attention is that Avaturn is compatible with Spark Studios, a tool for Instagram AR creators. Here's a short tutorial on importing your avatar to your Instagram filter.

Creating your avatar is pretty simple. Log into the desktop browser and scan the QR code, leading you to take 3 selfies. Once you're done, you will be asked to get back to your desktop browser and customize your avatar. It looks a little spooky, but it's a unique way to build your presence.
