Metaverse Fashion Week Guide'23

This is a weekly newsletter brought to you by a former fashion editor, aka me, Lina. I will cover digital wearables and their role in gaming and fashion.

The Wearables Daily feature and acknowledge all industry talents and tell their stories.

Introduction

Are you ready for the Fashion Week? Have you purchased all the latest designer items, or will you be waiting for those free NFT vending machines? I know we all have anticipated this since the last Metaverse Fashion Week. I will be closely watching the event, but until then, let's get down to some shopping lists and agenda planning, shall we?

Future Heritage

According to Decentraland's official statement, "Metaverse Fashion Week is a multi-disciplinary and cross-metaverse event focused on fashion and its many identities. From new designers to legacy designers and brands, and spread across 4 fabulous days, the event consists of runways shows, after-parties, educational talks, shopping, immersive experiences, and entertainment."

The curatorial theme of MVFW23 is "Future Heritage," a true challenge for creators to connect with the next generation of creators and traditional fashion designers. Even though I've seen many designers exploring this topic as some of the designers joined the Metaverse after IRL designer jobs.

Even though, at first, it was rumored that Fashion Week would take place in multiple Metaverses (I also talked with some of them a few months ago, who confirmed to be preparing for the event), the information I found is only about the Decentraland Metaverse events.

The shopping list

While on Decentraland, you might notice that avatars are wearing different clothing. Those are NFTs that other creators created. Don't worry, if you don't hold any cryptocurrencies, you'll just need a credit card to equip your backpack with one of those unique wearables.
