SPATIAL

Spatial is pioneering Web3 as one of the first 3D and immersive social platforms for creatives and builders. The platform just announced its collaboration with Sketchfab - the web's most expansive 3D library, which will allow the import of objects and models into the world. To celebrate the integration, Spatial launched the Sketch Your Space Design Challenge in collaboration with Sketchfab – and gave creators a chance to win $5,000 USD cash, one free year of Spatial+, Sketchfab Premium, and more. Even though the contest has ended, the lasting functionality will enable more creators to join the platform and start creating.

DRESSX x READY PLAYER ME

The largest metafashion retailer, DRESSX, partners with a cross-game avatar platform Ready Player Me, introducing the DRESSX Snake NFT collection. United in our missions of building an interoperable and open metaverse, the DRESSX NFT collection has been minted on the Polygon blockchain and is now available to wear on avatars and enter over 2,500 virtual worlds through Ready Player Me.

The DRESSX Snake collection was inspired by snakes' ability to outgrow and shed their skins, constantly developing new identities and showcasing their new colors. Featuring male and female looks, the DRESSX Snake collection introduces six snake skins available to wear on Ready Player Me avatars across the Metaverse. The buyers of the DRESSX NFT drop for Ready Player Me will receive a 3D asset, an avatar skin to wear through Ready Player Me, and the ability to try on the same NFT look on the buyer's own photo using the DRESSX proprietary digital dressing technology. Just as snakes change their skins in real life, the NFT collectors will be able to try their DRESSX Snake skins on their avatars and own photos in virtual reality.

SHORT INTERVIEW

Catalyst fashiontech expert, next-gen digital experiences strategist and foundress of Storyfounders. On top of leading global tech projects at IBM, her personal work focuses on the future consumer, digital culture research, innovations and immersive tech inclusion into brand’s customers’ journeys

What is the future of digital fashion?

The future of digital fashion is the future of our digital identity. It's full of endless and limitless self-discovery and self-expression for humankind. At the same time, it's full of possibilities to unveil the hidden power of creators, brands, and consumers (by enabling them to create, collaborate and prosper). Even though the mainstream journey of digital fashion is just in the beginning, different forms of digital fashion have surrounded us for ages. In-game skins, avatars, and bitmojis, just to name a few, are foundational elements of our future digital identity. For example, games, such as Fortnite, are informally treated as one of the world's biggest digital fashion marketplaces. Investments in digital looks are exponentially growing inside communities in metaverses such as Roblox or Decentraland too. But it's not only gaming, as we have three key realms where the adoption of digital fashion's ecosystem is growing - social media, virtual spaces, and games. All of these elements and so much more will add up to the iconic future of digital fashion - the future of our digital identity!

How do traditional brands explore digital opportunities?

Brands are fully immersed in the exploration of the new untapped potential of Web 3.0. Some researchers found out that more than half of Millennials and Gen Z think that their digital identity is more important than their physical presence, and as mentioned before - fashion is an essential part of our identity. As a consequence, brands watch the market. They see opportunities, and they jump into trying it all. I mean, literally all - from simply starting to accept crypto as their payments, hosting fashion collection shows and events in virtual spaces (as Dolce & Gabanna in Decentraland), even creating their own games (as Balenciaga), worlds (as Gucci in Sandbox), virtual wearables (as Balenciaga in Meta), virtual passes (as Lacoste), also acquiring digital-native brands (like Nike acquired RTFKT), designing in-game skins (as Louis Vuitton for League of Legends), creating virtual shops (like Selfridges in Decentraland) and so much more, I could keep on going to list endless opportunities for brands! That is exactly the reason why I love working with brands and helping them create and try and establish these unique moments between them and incredible digital audiences.

Why is it important to go digital?

Life is changing; thus, fashion is rearranging. In order to reach customers, brands need to adapt, while for creators to prosper, they need to scale. Digital fashion is giving all of these opportunities to the three key beneficiaries inside the digital ecosystem - brands, consumers, and creators. For brands - it's a chance to reach new digital-native audiences, expand their offerings, provide new experiences, establish loyalty, explore and learn. For consumers - it's an endless chance to enhance their identity, express themselves, invest in utility and become a part of the revolution. For creators - it's a chance to prosper financially, become trendsetters, grow the community, collaborate, and lead the way in the creative fashion industry. This is why going digital fascinates me so much because everyone in the industry ultimately can benefit and find their futuristic joy.:)
