This is a weekly newsletter brought to you by a former fashion editor, aka me, Lina. I will particularly cover digital wearables and their role in the gaming and fashion industry.
The Wearables Daily will feature and acknowledge all industry talents and tell their stories.
INTRODUCTION
Hi all! Even though I caught a virus yet again (parents know what I am talking about), I had a fun week exploring the Decentraland.
Mostly I was working with Droffo, a new creator-orientated marketplace to sell and showcase their wearables in style. I talked with and helped onboard the very first creators. Thank you all for your feedback and interest! Then, I did my usual, logged in to Decentraland, played the ButterflyPrawn game every day for a bit, wandered around the marketplace, cried a little about why I have so little MANA, and scrolled infinite meters of Twitter.
I had an amazing talk with GoldDaddy, where we came up with a brilliant idea of doing a workshop for Decentraland creators. Also, I was very curious to join this week's CDB Twitter space by Sinful and Canessa. I felt a lot of tension in the community in the past few weeks, and it reached its peak. It might seem like chaos is everywhere in the community now, but bear 🐻 with us - we're growing and learning how to be in Decentraland all together!
Won't be spoiling all the details - you can find all the links at the end of the newsletter.
Let's dive into the fun stuff! ⌛
NEWS, BUT NOT NEWS
I was very embarrassed for a fellow writer to go on Twitter and slam Decentraland in such an ironic post. 🤦♀️
Looking for the thousands of people in Decentraland.

News reporters should be more careful and always DYOR before posting such things. Metaverse is a complicated place, and Decentraland in it is no exception. I know that many of my readers are people who never went to Decentraland, so I want to clarify how this platform works and how and when you can find people there.
In order to enter the most popular place, the ICE poker game, you must own an ICE wearable. You can buy it on their marketplace. Otherwise, you won't see the players because you won't be technically there.
Most gatherings happen in USA time zones. These time zones are covered the most, and parties are usually organized to be comfortable to attend those in USA and Canada.
Decentraland is a big place, and you usually won't find the party if you randomly wander around. You have to know where the party is happening. It's helpful to follow Twitter and Discord channels for more information.
Realms. Even though you managed to get to the party, you must be in the correct realm. You might miss the big gathering if you're on the wrong one. This is why we rely on the community to tweet on which realm things are happening right now.
THE ERA OF CREATORS
This week I had the honor to announce that the new creator-focused marketplace beta version is finally live. Droffo was built by talented people from Lithuania. (Yep, that small country somewhere in the east of Europe where I was born, too!).
Working closely with the team, we created something genuinely focused on creators. So I continue my journey as a Droffo marketeer, who spends way too much on wearables, loves her avatar, and even pays way more attention to how the avatar looks in the Metaverse than me IRL.
The key differences between the traditional Decentraland marketplace and Droffo:
Filter and search easily, according to color, creator, or category.
Build your following and get your followers notified when you release something new.
Create collections for any occasions or parties, or group your items into folders.
Add collaborations - projects you worked with but were not a publisher.
Here are some of my favorite buzz about the platform:
The power of open source and decentralization lies here: Yesterday during a product meeting we realized that a team of creators built @Droffowear, an alternative front-end client to consume the @decentraland marketplace backend. Permissionless, transparent, and powerful! 👏👏👏

THE PARTY
Droffo will be holding a party next month to celebrate the creators of Decentraland. For that occasion, 5 creators were asked to create a MYTHIC wearable that will be distributed as gift bags for the very first buyers on the platform. Droffo partnered with Tangpoko fom DCLBabyDolls to build the best scene for it, representing the platform in style! Here's a sneak peek mood board of what is cooking behind the scenes.
SHORT INTERVIEW
Laurynas Jokubaitis
Droffo co-founder
Who’s behind Droffo?
Droffo is a team of product builders who are passionate about creating products that users love. As a group, we have founded and sold companies in Web2 and Web3, developed cutting-edge tech solutions, and were numbered among Forbes 30 under 30.
There is no "About us" page on the Droffo website yet. It's getting ready, and you will be able to read more about the team members there.
Why did you chose Decentraland and its creators?
We chose to start with Decentraland and its' creators because Decentraland is the most open virtual world and already allows everyone to go and create wearables as long as you have the skill to do that.
In a way, Decentraland already represents the future, the 3rd place outside work and home, where people gather to socialize, present themselves in style, and have fun. A future where everyone with the right skill can become a STAR creator and participate in this new virtual economy.
So, it was a natural decision to start with Decentraland creators and create an amazing product around their needs. :)
How do you see the future of digital wearables?
We think there will be many different virtual worlds in the future. People will do different things in them: play, socialize, party, educate, etc.
Today, there are 3 billion people playing games. That number is constantly increasing and is expected to reach 5 billion in the upcoming years. Moreover, games are increasingly becoming more social, which means fashion and how you represent yourself using your avatar are way more important than ever.
Therefore, we think creators will be THE STARS that will help dress the "metaverse." People will follow the creators they like and will buy wearables from those creators for different virtual environments.
Our goal at Droffo is to make sure that creators have all the necessary tools to grow their audience, represent themselves in style, and create and sell wearables for many different virtual worlds in one place.
